If you are worried about yourself or a friend, we encourage you to call THE SUICIDE LIFELINE at 1-800-273-8255(TALK). The Lifeline is available 24/7. You can also Text GO to 741741.

Worried About MyselfWe’re glad you’re seeking help if you’re feeling depressed or having suicidal thoughts. Friends and family members care for you and letting them know you are depressed will help them help you faster. We understand it may be difficult to ask for help and it probably takes a bit of courage, but starting the conversation is the first step to getting better and enjoying your life. You will have bad days, but you can do this with help. We encourage you to get in touch with a local counseling agency and make an appointment to start a treatment plan and follow the plan suggested. There are local and national resources to assist in times of need. Check out SAMHSA (Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration) for Local Treatment Centers and enter your zip code or go to American Psychological Association to get a full list of counselors and therapists in your community. Following your therapist’s advice and doing the specific homework recommended will help you feel better sooner.

Remember this is part of a mental illness and like all illnesses, treatment will help. The Suicide Lifeline at 1-800-273-8255 (TALK) is available 24/7 and Texting START to 741741 is there for you as well.

It may sound obvious, but there are hundreds of things you can do besides suicide. We encourage you to try something whether it’s new to you or something you’ve done before to encourage yourself to move forward and enjoy today. Take a picture of yourself enjoying something old or new and share it with the world. #sethtasticprojectseth or #projectseth
